Care for the Caregivers relief Grant

Supporting those supporting their loved ones

Care for the Caregivers (CFTC) is a relief program aimed at providing a helping hand specifically for carepartners who are the primary, live-in family member responsible for the care of their loved one with FTD or dementia. 50% of our grant funding is reserved for young onset dementia (60 and under) such as FTD and young-onset Alzheimer’s.

‘Cause Caregivers Need Love Too!'

When someone receives a CFTC Relief Grant, we meet the caregiver where they are by providing:

  • a 1-on-1 conversation to understand their unmet caregiving needs,
  • personalized care navigation package to equip the individual with care team options and continued support, and
  • a one-time cash assistance grant for immediate financial support.

How it works

Caregivers receive these grants by being nominated by a Care Professional such as a doctor, hospice or social worker involved in the care of your loved one with dementia. It may also be a support group facilitator from a professional organization such as Alzheimer’s San Diego, Lorenzo’s House, Association of FTD (AFTD), etc. All nominators are verified.

The Hard Truth

80% of our loved ones with dementia are cared for at home.

About 40% of family caregivers for people with dementia experience depression, compared to just 5-17% of non-caregivers of similar ages. It’s not just stress but the lack of relief that takes a toll. Dementia is not a normal part of aging and can occur at younger ages. Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is the most common form of dementia in those under 60, typically emerging between ages 40-60. Here's how you can help us in the fight for Caregivers.

Recognizing the unique burden on younger families, 50% of our CFTC Relief Fund is dedicated to supporting early-onset dementia cases like FTD and early Alzheimer’s.

Dementia touches every corner of the Earth without discrimination. Wives, husbands, sons, daughters, grandchildren etc. become caregivers overnight; without hesitation and full of love. They stay by the side of their loved one as they watch their life partner slowly slip away. But there is an UNMET NEED. Being a live-in caregiver/carepartner creates emotional, physical and financial stress. It is our goal to point the way and offer a helping hand to these families during what is likely the most difficult time in their life.

“I can’t say enough about how beautiful you made the [our] story. It made me feel whole again, just reading it brought tears. Thank you for all you’ve done, and still doing. … I have started seeing a chiropractor [using the relief grant], that’s really close to the house. I’ve gone twice, and yes I think he’s going to help. Took me so long, to get my butt motivated. The noises in my ears, have really taken a toll on me…”
