The “What” of Dementia

What comes to mind when you think of dementia?

If memory loss is what comes to mind, you’re on the right track: This is a common symptom of one type of dementia (Alz). Unfortunately, dementia comes in many forms-some of which have nothing to do with memory.

Difficulty walking, mobility loss, loss of speech, loss of control of limbs, judgement, and the ability to plan and organize are just a few other symptoms caused by dementia, and all are progressive. There are 15 known types of dementia that vary in symptoms and age of onset (some as young as 40s). There are no known cures but there is no lack of hope to find one.
